Source Inspection

SOURCE INSPECTION QUALITY MANAGEMENT PLAN
CALTROP offers turnkey development of project specific as well as agencywide Source Inspection Quality Management Plan (SIQMP) development as required by Caltrans for oversight projects. We assist local agencies in identifying and performing the necessary scope of source inspection and materials inspection to ensure the successful completion and acceptance of projects involving Caltrans Right-of-Way.

MATERIALS ENGINEERING SERVICES
CALTROP Structural Materials Representatives (SMRs) are licensed engineers who serve as the primary point-of-contact for materials engineering concerns. SMRs coordinate inspections, conduct pre-fabrication meetings and assist construction administration personnel with materials engineering issues and submittal reviews. SMRs also conduct audits of facilities and perform fit-for-purpose engineering evaluation of non-conforming materials and workmanship.

SAMPLING AND TESTING OF MATERIALS
CALTROP inspectors handle the identification, selection, sampling and shipping of structural materials for quality assurance testing to be performed at the project’s independent testing laboratory for items such as structural fasteners, epoxy coated rebar, elastomeric bearings, mechanical reinforcing couplers, welded reinforcing hoops, prestressing strand, ductile iron castings, joint seal material, paints and curing compound.

SOURCE INSPECTION AND JOBSITE QUALITY ASSURANCE SERVICES
CALTROP materials inspectors have many years of training and experience, and carry a wide range of industry-standard certifications, including those from the American Welding Society (Certified Welding Inspectors), the American Society for Non-destructive Testing (Non-destructive Testing Technicians, Levels II and III), Precast / Prestressed Concrete Institute (Quality Personnel Certification, Levels I, II and III) and American Concrete Institute (Field Grade Technician). Our inspectors are also familiar with Caltrans and LACMTA specifications and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.
