CALTROP Communications is currently providing services for a public awareness program with Caltrans District 7, which is supporting construction projects in multiple communities throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties with unique translation and interpretation needs. The CALTROP team’s mission in District 7 is to help build and maintain good customer relations with those communities impacted by the construction projects underway along the I-5 corridor.
The outreach team is utilizing a wide range of strategies and techniques to meet the diverse needs and characteristics of stakeholders within the I-5 community. These strategies are led by our expert community liaisons, who are providing Caltrans District 7 with full-service public outreach support through the duration of the freeway improvements. They keep the projects’ area community stakeholders informed, and are the eyes and ears for Caltrans staff. The liaisons are cultivating relationships with residents, businesses, schools and key community leaders. They are also responsible for anticipating and resolving potential hot-button issues and seeking opportunities for effective community engagement, such as holding neighborhood meetings, open houses and one-on-one briefings.
The outreach strategy includes using social media as a tool for service response (answering questions) and responding to and mitigating complaints. Our team is using the contract’s dedicated My5LA website and Twitter account to engage the I-5 community by providing immediate project updates as they occur, information on upcoming construction activities, construction fun facts, photo shares and information regarding neighboring projects.
