This $1.034 billion dollar project was constructed under a design / build contract with materials oversight by the Caltrans Office of Structural Materials. The four-year project involved:
- Constructing 10 miles of HOV lanes
- Realigning existing on- and off-ramps
- Removing and replacing three bridge structures
- Widening 23 additional bridges and ramps
- Constructing 18 miles of retaining and sound walls
- Widening freeways
- Performing road improvements on adjacent city streets
