Howard Hughes Center is a high-end business and entertainment center located in Los Angeles. The Center is located in the heart of the revitalized Culver City on Center Drive, on the west side of the I-405 between the I-10 and I-105 Freeways, near the SR-90 Freeway, Marina Del Rey and Los Angeles International Airport. It contains a television station, IMAX theater, fine restaurants, shopping, golf course and high-rise offices. Project elements included roadway construction, PCC and AC pouring, curb and gutter construction, landscaping, drainage and sewer facility construction, electrical ignalization and cast-in-place box girder bridges.
One of the challenges of construction was placement of waterlines through the project site. CALTROP ensured that the contractor addressed all utility coordination issues in a proactive fashion to keep progress moving forward. With CALTROP’s extensive experience working on projects involving complex agency coordination, the client realized a direct benefit of our lessons-learned approach. Field inspection, document control, utility relocation coordination, public relations and claims avoidance all played a key part in the project.
CALTROP provided construction management and coordination services. Our client-focused approach allowed the private developer to maximize project quality on a deadline while still adhering to the requirements of outside agencies.
