CALTROP Communications, in collaboration with Caltrans District 12, directed a comprehensive public awareness campaign to keep the community, commuters and all those who come to visit San Juan Capistrano and its historical landmarks informed of construction activities.
Working with the Caltrans project manager, the outreach team met with more than 25 stakeholder groups to provide an overview of the project and informed the community about construction impacts. The team also developed a Stakeholder Working Group, made up of elected officials, city staff, major businesses, non-profit organizations and local schools. This group met on a quarterly basis to receive project updates and provided valuable feedback to the outreach team. The team also visited with more than 400 businesses prior to the start of the construction to share project contract information. Once construction began, a Business Advisory Group was formed, which the team met with on a monthly basis, as well. Prior to the construction start date, CALTROP Communications organized a project open house and several neighborhood meetings to inform the community of construction activities.
CALTROP coordinated the logistics of the event, as well as invited the community through social media, door-to-door canvassing, ad placements and email marketing.
