The Douglas Grade Separation project in the City of El Segundo consisted of constructing two bridges (a railroad bridge and a pedestrian bridge) in order to separate the grade on Douglas Street between Park Place and Alaska Avenue. Construction of the project was coordinated with adjacent contracts, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA), BNSF Railroad and various utility companies. Construction of the two bridges and the new Douglas Street roadway was completed in three stages. In all stages and phases of the work, pedestrian access to the Douglas Street station elevator was maintained. Furthermore, mandatory access to local businesses during construction working hours was coordinated and provided.
CALTROP provided construction management, constructability review, scheduling, inspection services, contract administration, document control, utility relocation, surveying, testing, claims management and public relations for the City of El Segundo in conjunction with LACMTA and Caltrans District 7.
